Fundraise your way at the Bowral Classic

By 22 August 2019Charity News

The Bowral Classic is offering a refreshing approach to event fundraising. Our mission is to provide both individual riders and teams the opportunity to fundraise for whichever charity they wish to support.

We are giving the power back to riders. You choose a cause you are passionate about.

Since the inaugural Bowral Classic event in 2016, the Classic events have raised close to $300,000 for charities across Australia.

Riders can choose to fundraise for anyone but our preferred charities offer a diverse range:

  • National Breast Cancer Foundation
  • Black Dog Institute
  • Freedom Wheels
  • Make-A-Wish
  • JDRF
  • Chris O’Brien Lifehouse
  • Rare Cancers Australia

Once you decide the next step is to raise your profile, here’s three handy tips!

  1. Personalise

Make your fundraising page as personalised as possible! Change the font, include pictures, even include a video! Show your donors why you care and how their support will make a difference

  1. Dare

Dare yourself! Make a promise to your donors: if you reach a certain target, you’ll… Shave your head, bake them all biscuits, ride that extra 50km, or anything else you can think of! It’s a great way to incentivise donors and keep those funds coming once you’ve hit your target.

  1. Social Media

It’s not real unless it’s on Facebook! Make an initial status when you first create your page and update all your friends and family on your progress. Have a count down, put up pictures, and remind everyone that they can help make a difference. Also – don’t forget about Instagram! Gramming your progress and using #hashtags are a great way of connecting with like-minded people and getting some inspiration and motivation along the way.
