About the Bowral Classic

The Bowral Classic is a two-day cycling event that takes place in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW. The 2021 event will be held on the weekend of 11-12 December.

Events include:

  • Dirty Bowral Gravel Ride (Saturday, 11 December)
  • ‘The Crit’ Criterium Race (Saturday, 11 December)*
  • Gran Fondo Road Cycling Ride: 150km, 120km, 85km, or 35km (Sunday, 12 December)*

Riders from all over Australia have registered for the event. Many will be staying in the Southern Highlands over the weekend boosting tourism and bringing considerable economic benefits to the local region.

A special thank you to Wingecarribee Shire Council, Destination N.S.W, and NSW Police for their ongoing support and assistance.

When is it?

The Bowral Classic is held on the weekend of 11-12 December 2021.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

SATURDAY, 11 DECEMBER 2021

  •   7:30am – 12pm: Dirty Bowral Gravel Ride through Belanglo State Forest
  •   1:00pm – 5:30pm: 

SUNDAY, 12 DECEMBER 2021

  •  6:30am – 3:10pm: Bowral Classic Gran Fondo. The ride incorporates four routes, extending from Bowral to Berrima, Exeter, Fitzroy Falls, Robertson and Kangaloon.
  •   1:00pm – 5:30pm: Event Village at Loseby Park, Bowral

The Bowral Classic Event Village is at Loseby Park, Bowral.

What: Kit collection, event information, cycling exhibitors, bar & The Crit 

Sunday, 12 December 2021

Open: 9:00am to 4:00pm
What: The Event Village will be a lively centre of activity and entertainment as riders cross the finish line during the day. All welcome!

Enjoy:

 Beer, wine, soft drink
Local produce and wares
• Children’s activities and entertainment
Cycling exhibitor stalls
Cheer the riders as they cross the finish line with your free Bowral Classic bell

Note: The Event Village will be open in a limited capacity on Saturday (1-4pm) and Sunday (5:30am to 8:00am), mainly for rider kit collection. A limited number of cycling stalls will be open on the Saturday.

Event Village parking

Event Parking is available at David Woods Playing Fields, Boardman Road, Bowral.

This is a 3km cycle to the Start Line on Bong Bong St, and 2.5km cycle to the Finish Line/Event Village at Loseby Park, Bowral.

Limited street parking is available around the surrounding streets of Loseby Park. It is recommended that all riders park at David Woods Playing Fields and cycle into the Start Line/ back from the Finish Line.

Start Line

Cheer on cyclists as they depart Bong Bong St, Bowral between 6.30am and 8am.
All riders will head off in 75 second intervals, and head North-West towards Berrima.

6.30am:                Highlanders

6.35am-6.55am150KM Maxi Classic riders  

7.00am-7.25am: 120KM Challenge Classic riders

7.30am-7.55am: 85KM Rouleurs Classic riders 

8.00am-8.15am: 35KM Social Classic riders 

Finish Line

Riders will cross the Finish Line at Loseby Park, Bowral between 9am-3pm.

OXLEY DRIVE, BOWRAL

OXLEY ROAD, BOWRAL
ROAD CLOSURES BETWEEN 9:15AM – 3:15PM
SUNDAY, 12 DECEMBER 2021

Oxley Drive between Queen St and Duke St will be closed in both directions.
Local Resident Only access to Oxley Drive between Queen St and Rose St, including residents of Ellen St. Residents of Rose St, Hamilton Ave & Queen St, please access/exit via Merrigang St end.
Duke St (west) will be closed. Exit out of Duke St (East) end only.
Local Resident Only access to Oxley Drive between Duke St and Tyndall St. All residents exiting will need to travel towards Mittagong ONLY to exit.
Access to Oxley Drive from Morts Ln and Acacia St will be closed to exit out of Bracken St.

LOSEBY PARK, BOWRAL: Park Rd, Sheffield St, Ascot Rd and Loseby St

SATURDAY, 11 DECEMBER 2021

8:30am – 8:30pm: Loseby St, Ascot St & Sheffield St Resident Access Only. Park Rd will be Fully Closed.
8:30am – 8:30pm: An “Event Clearway” will be in place on Park Rd, Loseby St, Ascot St & Sheffield St.There will be No Parking on these streets.

SUNDAY, 12 DECEMBER 2021

9:15am – 4:00pm: Park Rd will be Fully Closed.

OTHER BOWRAL ROAD CLOSURES

Detours in place between 4:00am – 9:00am

Bong Bong St between Banyette St and Merrigang St in both directions
Station St between Banyette St and Merrigang St in both directions
Wingecarribee St between Bong Bong St and Kirkham Rd in both directions
Wingecarribee St between Kirkham Rd and Station St from 4:00am to 10:00am

From 7:00am – 8:45am

Oxleys Hill Rd will be closed for all traffic from 7:00am – 8:45am. Use Centennial Rd during this time.

BUNDANOON ROAD CLOSURES

SUNDAY, 12 DECEMBER 2021
7:30am – 10:30am

Ellsmore Rd, Bundanoon will be closed to Northbound Traffic between Blue Gum Rd and Sallys Corner Rd from 7:30am – 10:30am.
Use Bundanoon Rd and Middle Rd during this time.

FITZROY FALLS/WILDES MEADOW ROAD CLOSURES

Detours in place from 8:45am – 12:30pm

Nowra Rd to Myra Vale Rd closed to all though traffic between Yarrawa Rd and Sheepwash Rd.
Cars travelling north-west will be restricted. Local access for traffic south-east bound.
Detours in place 8:45am to 12:30pm.

Detours in place 8:30am – 1:00pm

Myra Vale Rd and Pearsons Ln closed to southbound traffic between Nowra Rd and Illawarra Hwy.
Local access for northbound traffic only.
Detours in place 8:30am to 1:00pm.

KANGALOON ROAD CLOSURES

Detours in place from 9:00am – 2:15pm

Tourist Rd/Kirkland Rd closed to south/eastbound traffic between Range Rd and Kangaloon Rd to Robertson.
Local access for north/ westbound traffic.
Detours in place between 9am and 2:15pm.

GLENQUARRY/MITTAGONG ROAD CLOSURES

Detours in place from 9:30am – 2:30pm

Range Rd closed to south/eastbound traffic between Old South Rd and Tourist Rd.
Local access for north/westbound traffic.
