While the bikes were many and varied, we noticed many\u00a0drivers had entrusted\u00a0Thule racks to safely carry their freedom machines\u00a0to the Southern Highlands.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Three\u00a0Key Points About Bike Racks<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Still several months out from the event, now&#8217;s\u00a0a good time to think about how you&#8217;ll get your bike to Bowral.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous bike-carrying options are available out there with all options covered &#8211; roof mount, tow bar mount, car, ute, hatchback &#8230; there are racks for all occasions. When looking at carrying systems it\u2019s critical to take several key points into account.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First and foremost is security &#8211; the rack needs to securely hold the bike at the legal maximum speed limit. In addition to this, by law (and by Australian standards) it should remain firmly in place if the vehicle is forced to come to a sudden stop.<\/li>\n<li>Second is bike protection &#8211; while carbon fibre frames offer incredible strength and durability, they are susceptible to crushing or cracking, particularly if pressure is applied to a particular or localised area.<\/li>\n<li>Third is the risk of theft\u00a0&#8211; those bikes on the roof may well be worth\u00a0as much as the car itself! When you\u00a0run in to a store or step away for a few minutes, you need the peace of mind to know the bike will be there when you return.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3142\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3142\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3142 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bowralclassic.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/Thule-2-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3142\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The bike is securely held in position via the wheel starts of the Thule ProRide roof mount carrier.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As valued Bowral Classic supporters, Thule offer a wide range of bike carrying systems that fit all of the above criteria and more. On our official event vehicle we use Thule ProRide racks and have found them simple to operate, easy\u00a0to install, totally secure and frame-friendly for\u00a0our\u00a0precious Bianchi Oltre XR4.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3167\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3167\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3167\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bowralclassic.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/BC22-1-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"469\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3167\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Bianchi Oltre XR4 securely in place on the Bowral Classic BMW.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The bike sits securely in place on an aluminium track. Lift the bike onto the track and the\u00a0Thule ProRide automatically positions it\u00a0via a uniquely designed frame holder and wheel tray. Once the bike\u2019s safely in place, a torque-limiting dial controls the force going into the frame giving\u00a0a clear signal of correct mounting.<\/p>\n<p>Diagonal quick-release straps securely hold the front and rear wheels in place &#8211; over several months of use we\u2019ve found these straps to remain strong, secure and show no sign of UV damage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Safely Locked In Position<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The frame is supported by oversized, soft claw pads that adapt to various sized &amp; shaped\u00a0frame tubes &#8211; thus minimising the risk of damage. The frame holder features a built-in lock, keeping it in position and ensuring the bike can&#8217;t be removed without the\u00a0key.<\/p>\n<p>Upon both initial installation and moving the Thule ProRide racks from vehicle to vehicle, no tools are required with the racks easily sliding into roof-bar T-tracks. They are then\u00a0 secured via an inbuilt tensioner.<\/p>\n<p>Used and tested extensively, the rack offers total peace-of-mind bike transport.<\/p>\n<p>The only critical\u00a0thing you need to remember is\u00a0fact there&#8217;s a bike on the roof.
