Who is Lady Burra? It depends who you ask – to some, she is a woman of mystery with historical meaning, spoken of through urban legends. To others, she is a woman of mixed luck who fell in love and as a result, found a passion and talent for brewing delightful beers with intrinsic pride.
Born in 1848 in the Kooringa Creek dugouts of Burra Burra in South Australia, Elizabeth Lilian Oliver (Lady Burra), lead an interesting life no matter whose tale of her you choose to believe.
The Lady Burra Brewhouse is a tribute to her entrepreneurial spirit, perfectionist brewing techniques and thirst to find love in all things.
Located in Topham Mall, Lady Burra brings craft beer and a Portuguese inspired menu together via one of only two microbrewery, bar and kitchens located in Adelaide’s CBD. All brews are handcrafted on-site using the finest ingredients, unfiltered with no additives or preservatives – the way beer should be!
The Lady Burra beer menu is often changing, with seasonal choices coming through – think Chocolate Stout and Apricot Ale – however the core brews are always a favourite in the Pilsner, Pale Ale, Indian Pale Ale and the highly popular Irish Red Ale.
Open Monday through Saturday for general trade as well as private functions, Lady Burra’s bar packs a range of local South Australian wines and spirits to match the menu that delivers wood oven pizzas, a large range of delicious tapas and sharing boards as well as paella on Friday’s and Saturday’s from 5pm.
