South Australia is undoubtedly the home of cycling in this country. With vast, open country, well-maintained roads and an abundance of gourmet cafes, wineries and restaurants, SA really is the nation’s leader. There’s also the small undertaking of the UCI Tour Down Under every January.
Here’s three reasons why you should visit Clare on two wheels in your lifetime.
Vast, open spaces
If you’re a fan of chasing that endless horizon than the Clare Classic is the Gran Fondo for you. The Clare Valley is home to many stunning, open landscapes that will make you think you’ve somehow stumbled across a European tour.
Riesling Trail
While we all take our cycling pretty seriously the Riesling Trail is a chance to kick back and relax. Covering about 30km, the Riesling Trail is a self-guided tour of what makes Clare Valley so great, wine!! There’s great cellar doors like Mr Micks as well as award-winning names such as Taylors and Pikes, all calling out to your taste buds!
Dirty Clare
Ok so we all love road cycling, that’s the reason we do Gran Fondos but have you tried gravel before? Think of it as a retro cycling experience, testing yourself the same way early cyclists did before the widespread availability of bitumen.
Well we have the ideal introduction, Dirty Clare! It’s an 80km gravel ride through the beautiful Spring Gully Conservation Park and will be held on Saturday, 4 April for a nice warm up before Sunday’s big event. Are you ready to get dirty?
Register for the Clare Classic today!
If you sign up before Sunday, 10 November you’ll also get a FREE Clare jersey designed by Cinettica.*
