But don\u2019t push yourself too hard! So eating breakfast is extremely important on race day because the right amount and type of food is vital to keeping you going during the ride. Eat 2-4 hours before you\u2019re due to start, fuelling yourself with plenty of fluids, carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Your body will still expend energy long after you\u2019ve crossed the finishing line, so you won\u2019t need to worry about consuming high levels of calories and fat.
