Bicy<\/a>clin<\/a>g Australia,<\/a> the nation\u2019s leading cycling media brand and home of The Classics<\/a>, is excited to return to the New South Wales Mid-Western region for the 2nd<\/sup> annual Mudgee Classic<\/a> on Sunday, 1 May 2022.<\/p>\n Over 2,000 cyclists are expected to descend upon Mudgee and surrounding towns to participate in one of four road cycling events – the 180km Maxi Classic, 130km Challenge Classic, 70km Rouleurs Classic, or the 40km Social Classic.<\/p>\n The courses have been revamped in 2022 to showcase the most scenic areas of the Mudgee region, such as the historical gold-rush town of Gulgong. A fourth course of 70km has also been added in response to rider feedback after the inaugural 2021 event, now catering for cyclists of all abilities.<\/p>\n A major boost to the region\u2019s economy, the Mudgee Classic attracts not only cyclists from across Australia but also their supporting friends and family. The economic benefit to the region is estimated at over $2,500,000.<\/p>\n Minister for Tourism Stuart Ayres said the Mudgee Classic was an extremely important event in the year\u2019s cycling calendar, as well as for the region.<\/p>\n \u201cIt has been a really challenging time for regional NSW and I am so pleased to support the return of the Mudgee Classic in 2022, an event that not only contributes to charity but also supports the local visitor economy by attracting participants, spectators and officials,\u201d Mr Ayres said.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter what has been a difficult period of uncertainty, I congratulate the organisers for holding this great event once again, for the benefit of cycling enthusiasts as well as the whole Mid-Western region.\u201d<\/p>\n Helping Others Who Need It Most <\/strong><\/p>\n More than a brilliant weekend of cycling, there\u2019s a serious side to the Mudgee Classic and that is the charity factor.
