Both long-time ambassadors of The Classics, they\u2019ve clocked up countless kilometres and collected more than a few unforgettable memories along the way. There\u2019s something memorable about being part of the very first edition of each Classic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Which course are you riding this year, and why?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Giles:<\/strong> I\u2019m signed up for the long course, but I might need to switch to the shorter one\u2014I\u2019m having a full hip replacement the month before the event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gareth:<\/strong> I\u2019m doing the Maxi Classic. It means more Mudgee! \ud83d\ude04<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How are you preparing for the Mudgee Classic? Got any training tips?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Giles:<\/strong> Riding every day\u2014even if it\u2019s just a commute\u2014with a bit of gym work. That said, my April surgery might undo all that effort!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gareth:<\/strong> I\u2019ve been super consistent this year. I do a variety of bunch rides midweek and a long 100km+ ride most weekends. Going to the Tour Down Under in Adelaide was a great training kickstart!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s one piece of advice you\u2019d give to first-time riders?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Giles:<\/strong> Find a club that welcomes all levels and start off riding in the park away from traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gareth:<\/strong> When you find a bunch at your pace, stick with it. Makes all the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do you celebrate post-ride?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Giles:<\/strong> A cold one at Three Tails Brewery\u2014perfect way to re-hydrate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gareth:<\/strong> I like to celebrate <em>before<\/em> the ride! After the event, it\u2019s back to Canberra and straight into work mode. But if I could stay in Mudgee I&#8217;d head to a winery or two.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why should someone sign up for the Mudgee Classic if they\u2019re on the fence?<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Giles:<\/strong> It\u2019s one of the more forgiving courses, and there\u2019s loads to do in and around the area. There really is something for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gareth:<\/strong> It\u2019s a fantastic course\u2014fast, fun, and beautiful.
