So you’re registered for the Noosa Classic on August 26<\/a><\/strong> and decided the winter trip to the Sunshine State is the perfect reason (not to mention time of year!) to make the most of it and stay a little longer.<\/p>\n

Accommodation is booked, you’ve planned out activities and destinations for the kids, and taken a look online at the many food, beverage and shopping options world famous Hastings Street has to offer.<\/p>\n

Next step (or maybe it came along a little earlier in the process), is to research the local cycling options.<\/p>\n

In this – the first in a series of ‘where to ride’ videos – we showcase the well known 50km out and back route from Noosa to Boreen Point on Lake Coothraraba.<\/p>\n

A relatively safe ride, you’ll be be following bike lanes through Noosa, along the river at Noosaville and out through Tewantin. From there the road leads onto McKinnon Drive which features a generous shoulder and smooth surface. perfectly conducive to a fast pace if you so wish.<\/p>\n

A tip is to turn right onto Lake Cooroibah Road – this will take you off McKinnon Drive for a short time and offers the chance for you to take a look at Lake Cooroibah, the first of the two major lakes on the Noosa River.<\/p>\n

The ride to Boreen Point is straight forward enough – it’s well sign posted all the way to the quiet and sleepy lakeside township.\u00a0At Boreen Point you have the option of stopping for liquid refreshments or something more substantial at the famous Apollonian Hotel or a small cafe opposite the lake.<\/p>\n
