So you\u2019re heading to Noosa for the August 14 Classic, have selected one of the three course lengths, and wondering where else to ride while there.<\/p>\n

Recently in the Noosa region for annual holidays, Bicycling Australia editor Nat Bromhead spent time exploring the local roads and came up with this personal Top 5 rides.<\/p>\n

1: Gyndier Drive<\/strong><\/p>\n

Noosa\u2019s best kept secret for cyclists is Gyndier Drive, a closed road that links the busy Cooroy Noosa Rd with Sunrise Road. To get to \u2018Gyndier\u2019 simply ride north west through Tewantin, heading toward Cooroy. A couple of K\u2019s out of town you\u2019ll pass the Wooroi Day Use area on the left – an absolute Mecca for MTB riders and \u2018trail city\u2019 for the local downhill riders.

Gyndier Drive is one of Noosa\u2019s best little rides – make sure you do it when there!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n

Once onto the start of Gyndier you\u2019ll ride through the bollards and pretty well have the road to yourself! Keep an eye out for walkers along with sticks and other debris on the road. It\u2019s stunning and truly memorable cycling.<\/p>\n

2: The \u2018World Champs\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

Around a 45km ride the locals refer to as \u2018the World Champs\u2019, this weekly ride leaves the Noosa Bike Shop each Tuesday morning at 6am. Riders start fast and head up Gyndier Drive before steering towards Cooroy.

You can smell the coffee and bakery but there\u2019s no stopping in the satellite village, instead they head back towards Sunrise Rd then downhill to Noosaville before finishing at Little Cove Coffee.
\nHard, fast but highly recommended!<\/p>\n

3: Coolum and Back – Australia\u2019s Most Scenic Ride?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Keen on one of Australia\u2019s most scenic road rides? The David Low Way connects Noosa with a series of beaches including Sunshine, Sunrise, Coolum, and Marcoola. It\u2019s a smooth, well-maintained road that features the Noosa National Park on one side and stunning blue ocean on the other as it snakes its way south.

Prepare for stunning scenery if you\u2019re riding from Noosa to Coolum – we think it\u2019s one of Australia\u2019s best rides!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n

The David Low Way can get busy during the day but does offer the comfort and safety of bike lanes north and south. Our tip: head down to Coolum for a morning coffee (at the French cafe) before blasting back to Noosa.

4: Boreen Point Out & Back<\/strong><\/p>\n

A classic \u2018out and back\u2019, Noosa to Lake Cootharaba is one of the region\u2019s great rides. It\u2019s 40 to 50km return (depending upon your start point), and a staple fast, flat training ride. One tip is to turn right at Lake Cooroibah Drive to add a Cooroibah Loop to the ride. This helps keep you off McKinnon Drive which can be relatively busy during the mornings and afternoons. <\/p>\n

Once you get to the Louis Bazzo Drive intersection turn right for the final few kilometres into stunning Boreen Point. Got an extra few spare minutes while there? Walk or ride along the Esplanade and particularly the Boreen Pt Campground – the lake views are sublime.<\/p>\n

5: Ringtail Creek & The Noosa Trail Network<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enjoy gravel or XC MTB? You\u2019ll absolutely love the elaborate Noosa Train Network! The huge expanse of paths Criss-crosses the are north and south of Noosa – from Tewantin to Cooroy, Pomona and beyond. Our tip is to follow the above Boreen Pt route – including the Cooroibah loop. Once back on McKinnon Drive ride another kilometre or so before turning left onto Ringtail Creek Rd.

Like gravel? You\u2019ll love the Ringtail Creek Rd area – there are trails everywhere!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n

From here the road is gravel and you have an enormous trail network ahead of you. Our suggestion to would be to download the Trailforks and Ride With GPS apps, plus plan your route on Strava.

enjoy adventure cycling? The Noosa Trail Network offers literally weeks of exploration opportunities.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n
