2025 EVENT CANCELLATION

It is with great regret that The Classics announce the cancellation of the 2025 Snowy Classic road cycling Gran Fondo due to increasing operational event costs.

Riders registered in the 2025 Snowy Classic will be contacted and processed a refund back onto their original form of payment. For rider enquiries, please contact

Registration kit collection & merchandise swaps

Registration Kits

If you pay for postage, your registration kit and any merchandise ordered will be mailed to your nominated address early-March.

If you opt to collect your kit in the Event Village it will be available with any ordered merchandise at the Event Village (Opposite the Start/Finish Line at Town Centre Carpark, Bay St Jindabyne) on Friday, 21 March between 3:00pm – 6:00pm or Saturday, 22 March 2025 between 7:00am – 8:00am.

If there is a problem with your registration kit, or you wish to transfer ride categories, please come to the Event Village between the above open hours.

Merchandise Swaps

If you wish to swap your jersey for a different size, please bring your jersey in its original packaging to the Merchandise Tent at the Event Village on the event weekend. Please note: jersey sizes are limited and we may not be able to accommodate all sizing requests.

What is included in your registration kit?

The following is included in your registration kit:

  • A Rider Sticker Seat, which includes your rider number. Rider numbers also include a silver timing chip. Please remove the backing paper and fold the sticker with your rider number around your seat post, with the number facing the rear of the bike. Note: Do not attach the sticker prior to transporting the bike on the exterior of a vehicle. High-speed travel is likely to cause the sticker to fray and tear, which may make it unusable.
  • Front plate for identification by marshals on course
  • Wristband for rider identification
  • Maps of the course, Start and Finish lines and Event Village.
  • Drink token for a free beer or wine at the Event Village.
  •  Any merchandise you have ordered (excluding Black Sheep merchandise which will be delivered separately).

Missed/damaged registration assets

If you are missing or have a damaged Seat Post Sticker, Rider Wristband, or Front Plate & cable ties, please visit the Registration Tent on the event weekend and we will issue you a replacement.

How to attach your rider number

A rider sticker sheet, including your rider number, is included in your rider pack.

Cancellations, refunds & category transfers

Riders that purchase Enhanced Refund Protection at the time of registration will be eligible for a refund. This cannot be added retrospectively after registering. Enhanced Refund Protection is offered through a third-party, PROTECHT. All refund requests must be submitted via the PROTECHT portal. For more information, click here.

For riders who do not purchase Enhanced Refund Protection, cancellations that are received by 9 February 2025 will be offered a deferral to Snowy Classic 2026. No refunds or deferrals will be offered for cancellations received after 9 February 2025 without Enhanced Refund Protection. Deferral requests can be sent to

We respect and understand that from time to time some riders will be unable to participate due to illness, often at late notice. This is why we offer Enhanced Refund Protection at the time of registration.

Your support goes towards the high operating costs of each event where supplier’s fees & charges are typically paid prior to the event date. As such, we are not able to offer refunds as we want each event to be viable and enjoyable now and into the future.

You can transfer your registration to another person if the request is submitted at least 7 days before event day. It is the rider’s responsibility to transfer the Rider Identification Assets if the registration kit has already been mailed out.

Should the Event Organisers cancel the event due to adverse weather conditions or a pandemic, all riders will be given a 50% refund.

The event could be modified or cancelled if the Bureau of Meteorology predicts;

  • Continuous rain in excess of 20mm/h that could possibly lead to flash flooding.
  • Winds greater than 45km/hr.
  • Temperatures above 35 Degrees Celsius.
  • Lighting on course at any stage of the event.

If any of the above conditions are experienced in the lead up or during the event, a decision will be made by Event officials in conjunction with key stakeholders. All participants will be notified by email and text message.

Any merchandise purchased will not be refunded.

Credit card fees and any associated travel costs are not refundable by the Event Organisers.

Cyclists will depart Kosciuszko Rd, Jindabyne (opposite Banjo Paterson Park) between 8:00am – 8:10am

170KM MAXI CLASSIC: 7:45am arrival

A ride briefing will take place before each start wave.

Save an extra 10% off each entry if you are a team of 4 or more riders! Simply have the first team member registering set up the team and the discount will be automatically applied for all members (they too will receive the discount). Please note teams are for 4 or more riders only and are open to Clubs, Social and Corporate Teams.

JJ Connors Oval
Park Rd, Jindabyne

JJ Connors Oval is a short 1.2km cycle from the Start/Finish Line and Event Village on Kosciuszko Rd (opposite Banjo Paterson Park).

170km Maxi Classic

110km Challenge Classic

The Snowy Classic course will be closed to general motor traffic throughout the event. For more information on road closures, visit www.snowyclassic.com.au/community

Cut-off Times

All Cut-off Times will be heavily enforced to ensure roads are open to the public per advertised times.

Cut-off Times are based off riders being able to complete the course in an average of 20km/h for Challenge riders and 22km/h for Maxi riders.
There is a cut-off at the bottom of Beloka to ensure the road closures are opened on time.
Allowed max. rest stop times are 15min per Berridale, 15min Beloka, 15min SMGS, 10min at top of Perisher.

170km Maxi Classic

Maxi Cut-off Times are based off min 22km/hr riding speeds around course the first 100km of the course. The Perisher Cut-off Time is calculated with the option for riders to stop at 1 rest stop – Berridale or Beloka.

  • 54km / 10:35am: Depart Rest Stop 1 (Berridale) by 10:35am to reach Perisher Cut-off Time.  Maintain a +22km/h speed to meet further Cut-ff Times.
  • 86km / 12:30pm: Arrive at the bottom of Beloka K/QOM before 12:30pm to attempt the challenging 10% climb. Any riders arriving after 12:30pm will be loaded into the SAG and dropped at the top of the climb to continue on course. These riders will have their times amended.
  • 89km / 1:30pm: Depart Rest Stop 2 (Beloka) by 1:30pm to reach the bottom of Barry Way before roads open at 2:30pm. Any riders arriving at the Beloka K/QOM Finish after 1:30pm will be loaded into the SAG and dropped at the Event Village.
  • 106km / 1:30pm: Pass Barry Way/Kosciuszko Rd Roundabout before 1:30pm to attempt the 30km climb to Perisher Valley. All Maxi riders arriving after 1:30pm will be instructed to TURN RIGHT towards the Finish Line.
  • 106km / 1:40pm: Depart Rest Stop 3 (Snowy Mountains Grammar School) before 1:40pm to reach Perisher Hydration Station Cut-off Time. Maintain a +15km/h speed to the rest stop to meet the Cut-off Time.
  • 124km / 3:00pm: Pass or leave the Perisher Hydration Station before 3:00pm to contine on the climb to Perisher. Any riders arriving at the Hydration Station after 3:00pm will be instructed to turn around and descend the hill to the Event Village. Maintain a +12km/h speed to meet further Cut-off Times.

110km Challenge Classic 

Challenge Cut-off Times are based off min 20km/hr riding speeds around course the first 100km of the course.

  • 54km / 10:55am: Depart the rest stop before 10:55am to reach the bottom of Barry Way before roads open at 2.30pm. Maintain a +20km/h speed to meet further Cut-ff Times.
  • 86km / 12:30pm: Arrive at the bottom of Beloka K/QOM before 12:30pm to attempt the challenging 10% climb. Any riders arriving after 12:30pm will be loaded into the SAG and dropped at the top of the climb to continue on course. These riders will have their times amended.
  • 89km / 1:30pm: Depart Rest Stop 2 (Beloka) by 1:30pm to reach the bottom of Barry Way before roads open at 2:30pm. Any riders arriving at the Beloka K/QOM Finish after 1:30pm will be loaded into the SAG and dropped at the Event Village.

Rest stops: 170km Maxi Classic

The following rest stops and hydration stations will be located on the 170km MAXI CLASSIC course:

BERIDALE (FULL REST STOP)
Where: Ray Goodman Oval Florence St, Berridale
Distance from start: 54.3km
Distance to finish: 114.2km
What: First aid, toilets, water, hydration gels & powder, fruit, energy foods, cake, sandwiches
When: 170km Maxi Classic riders will pass this rest stop approximately between 9:25am – 11:00am

BELOKA (FULL REST STOP)
Where: Top of K/QOM climb, Snowy Rivery Way, Beloka
Distance from start: 89.2km
Distance to finish: 79.3km
What: First aid, toilets, water, hydration gels & powder, fruit, energy foods, cake, sandwiches
When: 170km Maxi Classic riders will pass this rest stop approximately between 10:00am – 1:00pm

JINDABYNE (FULL REST STOP)
Where: Snowy Mtn Grammar Koscuiszko Rd, Jindabyne
Distance from start: 105.8km
Distance to finish: 62.7km

When: 170km Maxi Classic riders will pass this rest stop approximately between 10:45am – 1:20pm

PERISHER CLIMB (HYDRATION STATION)
Where: Koscuiszko Rd, Jindabyne
Distance from start: 124.2km
Distance to finish: 44.3km

When: 170km Maxi Classic riders will pass this rest stop approximately between 11:25am – 2:45pm

PERISHER VALLEY (LITE REST STOP)
Where: Perisher Valley Ski Resort Carpark Koscuiszko Rd, Perisher
Distance from start: 136.4km
Distance to finish: 32.1km
What: First aid, toilets, water, hydration gels & powder, fruit, energy foods
When: 170km Maxi Classic riders will pass this rest stop approximately between 12:00pm – 4:00pm

Rest stops: 110km Challenge Classic

The following rest stops and hydration stations will be located on the 110km CHALLENGE CLASSIC course:

BELOKA (FULL REST STOP)
Where: Top of K/QOM climb, Snowy Rivery Way, Beloka
Distance from start: 89.2km
Distance to finish: 17.9km
What: First aid, toilets, water, hydration gels & powder, fruit, energy foods, cake, sandwiches
When: 170km Maxi Classic riders will pass this rest stop approximately between 10:20am – 1:10pm

Age restrictions

Participants for the 170km Maxi Classic must be aged 16 years or older. Maxi riders aged between 16-17 years must hold a valid AusCycling Race Licence which must be entered upon registration.

Participants for the 110km Challenge Classic must be aged 12 years or older at the time of the event. Riders aged between 12-16 years old require a valid AusCycling Race Licence which must be entered upon registration. These riders must also be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.

Please note the Emergency and Event hotlines will not be turned on until the weekend of the Snowy Classic. These numbers are also listed on your rider identification sticker.

There will be an ambulance on course along with a designated first aid response team with two vehicles on course.

Emergency medical staff will be clearly identified with high-vis vests and name tags.

eBikes, TT Bars & other bike restrictions

eBikes will be permitted in the 170km Maxi Classic and 110km Challenge Classic rides. The eBike option must be selected when registering for the event.

All eBikes must adhere to Australian eBike Standards. No modifications to eBikes will be allowed to participate on course. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure they have sufficient batteries to complete the ride.

Time Trial (TT) bars and Aero bars are not permitted in the Snowy Classic. If your chosen bike is anything other than an eBike or road bike, please email

Bike preparation

Come prepared, check your bike in for a service, put on new tires, check your brakes, cables, chain, lube etc. Please do not arrive to the start with a bike that needs a full service.

Friday 21 March- there will be mechanics at the Event Village (Town Centre Carpark, Bay St Jindabyne).

Saturday 22 March – there will be mechanics at the Start area on Kosciuszko Rd, Jindabyne. There will also be a mechanics roaming on course.

What you need for the ride

Riders are to be self-reliant. Riders should carry:

•  2x water biddons
•  Some nutrition, e.g. banana, muesli bar
•  2 x tubes
•  C02 head unit and canisters
•  Puncture kit
•  Front and rear lights
•  Mobile phone
•  Glasses
•  Appropriate cycle related clothing
•  Some money

Wear an Australian approved helmet at all times: no helmet = no ride

Nutrition & hydration

This ride is not like your usual hit out. Two factors cannot be underestimated:
 Even at 30km/h riders will be out for 5-plus hours on the bike.
• Riders should consume one gram of carbohydrate per kilogram of body weight per hour.

Eating and drinking by the time you feel hungry/thirsty will be too late.

Every rider should carry some nutrition e.g. gels, bananas, muesli bars. Also riders are encouraged to carry 2 x 750 ml water biddons.

There will be rest stops throughout the course.

Plan to drink all your fluids by the time you get to the next station.

Remember to slip, slop slap!
At rest stops there will be a water station, food, and First Aid kits. 

Rules & rider behaviour

Even though the Snowy Classic is on closed roads to motor vehicles, road rules still apply.
If a cyclist is found to be in breach of road rules organisers will disqualify and remove cyclist from event.

•  Keep to the left so faster rides and event vehicles can overtake.

  Please ensure you have reviewed the following NSW Road Rules.

•  Obey all road rules and directions from Police and Traffic Controllers.

•  Respect signs which have been put in place by the event organiser.

•  Wear an Australian approved helmet at all times: no helmet = no ride.

•  Any person participating in the event, must obey directions given by a member of the NSW Police Force or Ride Referee

•  At the Ride Referees discretion, riders may be withdrawn from the event if they are outside the designated cut-off times and their safety cannot be reasonably ensured.

•  While every effort has been made to mark out and officiate the course route, it remains the riders responsibility to be conversant with the ride route. Cyclists are reminded that road cycling can be considered a dangerous sport and whilst all reasonable care is taken by organisers and officials when organising an event, all participants have an equal responsibility to ensure they take all reasonable care by adhering to the road rules and other conditions imposed by ride officials, ensuring a safe ride environment for all concerned.

Security

The Event Management takes no responsibility for any valuables lost before / during or after the event.

Cyclists and insurance

Insurance is compulsory. During the registration process, you will be asked to note your current insurance cover and insurance number. Your current insurance will need to cover you for the Snowy Classic day event. This is a timed event, refer to your insurer’s conditions if you are unsure if you are covered. If you do not have appropriate insurance, you will be asked to take out day insurance, Personal Accident Cover.

Team rankings

Team rankings will be based in the Top Four times of each team. If only three cross the line, that team will not receive a team result.
