Child protection organisation Bravehearts has this month announced Aussie track cyclist and two-time World Champ Amy Cure as an official ambassador.
Bravehearts is hopeful the 23-year-old Tassie superstar will inspire and encourage thousands of Aussie kids on the road to Rio.
Amy says she’s proud to help raise awareness around the importance of helping Bravehearts protect kids.
“I’ve personally seen the effects childhood abuse has on people,” Amy says.
“1 in 5 Aussie children are sexually harmed before their 18th birthday – this needs to change!
“Come on Australia, let’s get behind this organisation. Join me in helping Bravehearts educate, empower and protect our kids.”
Bravehearts is a child protection organisation with a mission to prevent child sexual assault through educating, empowering and protecting Aussie kids.
Bravehearts offer a range of educational content to schools and childcare centres across Australia. The programs aim to teach children about their own personal safety in a fun, engaging and non-confrontational manner. Along with their school-based education programs and multimedia products, Bravehearts also run ‘Supporting Hands’ workshops for parents and those working with children, geared to educating people around children.
The organisation also runs the Bravehearts White Balloon Day which celebrates it’s 20th year in 2016. Held on September 9 it is Bravehearts’ key awareness and fundraising campaign supported by communities from all over Australia. View their digital ‘sky’ where people are releasing their own cyber balloons to spread the message of awareness, prevention and support.
Having Amy Cure as an ambassador shows Bravehearts recognise the charitable nature of cyclists as Bravehearts are also supporters of the Bowral Classic event in October. Head to the You Choose, You Decide charity page on the Bowral Classic site to begin raising funds for Bravehearts.
