Now in its fifth year, the Bowral Classic has become an iconic event in the Australian cycling calendar.
The ride never fails to light up the beautiful Southern Highlands region of New South Wales and 2020 will be no exception despite these tough times.
One of the many things that makes the Bowral Classic stand out is the charity aspect. Much more than a ride, the Bowral Classic empowers riders to nominate a charity of their choice and do some serious fundraising.
So how do I get involved?
Your first step involves registering for the 2020 Bowral Classic, held on 18 October. From there you can choose to start fundraising. For more information head here!
Since the inaugural Bowral Classic event in 2016, the Classic events have raised over $400,000 for charities across Australia.
We do have a range of charity partners and we urge you to check them out first. You can find them here!
Three tips to successful fundraising
- Personalise
Make your fundraising page as personalised as possible! Change the font, include pictures, even include a video! Show your donors why you care and how their support will make a difference.
- Dare
Dare yourself! Make a promise to your donors: if you reach a certain target, you’ll… Shave your head, bake them all cookies, ride that extra 50km, or anything else you can think of! It’s a great way to incentivise donors and keep those funds coming once you’ve hit your target.
- Social Media
It’s not real unless it’s on Facebook! Make an initial status when you first create your page and update all your friends and family on your progress. Have a count down, put up pictures, and remind everyone that they can help make a difference. Also – don’t forget about Instagram! ‘Gramming’ your progress and using #hashtags are a great way of connecting with like-minded people and getting some inspiration and motivation along the way.
