From spectacular waterfalls to breathtaking lookouts and historic parkland trails, the Southern Highlands is one of Australia’s most vibrant natural playgrounds. Explore lush rainforests, cycle through open woodland or visit local gardens as thousands of tulips burst into bloom.
As you ride through the Highlands you’ll see vineyards, colonial architecture and dense forests, but you won’t have time to explore. Arrive early or book a few nights after the ride to discover the region.
With a train track running through the main towns and bike-friendly streets, it’s an easy trip to waterfalls, scenic hikes and picnic spots in the nearby national parks. A tour can take you to the region’s lauded vineyards or go the self-guided route stopping at the Highland’s award-winning wineries, restaurants, markets and producers, too. On another day, check out vintage shops and gardens in Bowral, Georgian architecture in Berrima and a museum following the story of one of the world’s greatest ever athletes.
Before you leave, take your bike to the base of Mount Gibraltar, open up Strava and test yourself against
the fastest time (7:01). The reward is the view!
