2024 Mudgee Classic: A Premier Cycling Event Like No Other

Thousands of cyclists are currently preparing to pedal their way through the picturesque landscapes of New South Wales’ wine country at the 2024 Mudgee Classic, set to return to the state’s Mid-West for the fourth year on the weekend 4-5 May.

After a successful inaugural year in 2023, the Dirty Mudgee Gravel Ride will return on Saturday, 4 May 2024. The specially chosen gravel course showcases Mudgee’s spectacular rural scenery, the region’s impressive vineyards and iconic Australian country landscape.

On Sunday 5 May 2024, the road cycling event will start with a bang as riders depart from Church St, Mudgee and complete one of four courses ranging from 35km to 170km. All courses showcase the best of the Mudgee region, extending from Mudgee to Cooyal, Ulan, iconic Gulgong and back through the Finish Line at Glen Willow Sports Complex in Mudgee.

The hub of the weekend will be at the Event Village at the expansive Glen Willow Sports Complex which will be open from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May. All are welcome to come down and experience the atmosphere of a cycling Gran Fondo. There will be live music, a bar, food trucks, exhibitor stalls and children’s activities.

Mudgee Mayor, Des Kennedy, said “Mid-Western Regional Council is thrilled to welcome cyclists to our region once again for the 2024 Mudgee Classic, a highlight on our calendar that showcases stunning landscapes for participants to enjoy on their ride. The Mudgee Classic not only fosters a love for cycling but also raises funds for numerous charities across Australia, all while making a substantial contribution to our local economy.”

Ride For Others
The Mudgee Classic offers a refreshing approach to event fundraising with individual riders and teams raising money for whichever charity they wish to support. We’ve already uncovered some incredible fundraising stories – see the Mudgee Classic website for more. Since the inaugural Bowral Classic event in 2016, the Classics events have raised over $500,000 for charities across Australia.

With Early Bird registrations open now, the ’24 Mudgee Classic promises an unforgettable weekend for cycling lovers plus their friends and families. The annual event has become a staple on the Australian cycling calendar, drawing participants from around the country and beyond. So popular is the Classic, the visitor influx contributes more than $2,000,000 to the local tourism economy each year.

Mudgee Classic organisers extend a special thank you to Mid-Western Regional Council, Mudgee Region Tourism, Department of Transport and Main Roads, and NSW Police for their ongoing support and assistance.
