About the Mudgee Classic

The Mudgee Classic is a road cycling event that takes place in the beautiful wine region of Mid-West NSW. The ride incorporates three routes, passing through Mudgee to Rylstone, the Bylong Valley, Lue and more.

The centre of activity on the day will be the Mudgee Classic Event Village at Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex, Mudgee. Please come along and cheer the riders as they cross the Finish Line during the day.

The Event Village will be open from 10am-4pm and will include live music, market stalls, children’s activities, cycling exhibitors and more.

Riders from all over Australia have registered for the inaugural event. Many will be staying in Mudgee over the weekend boosting tourism and bringing considerable economic benefits to the local region.

When is it?

The Mudgee Classic is on Sunday, 2 May 2021.

The inaugural cycling event includes three courses, the 170KM Maxi Classic, the 120KM Challenge Classic, and the 35KM Social Classic.

The ride starts on Church St, Mudgee (outside St Marys Catholic Church) between 7:00am and 8:00am.

The first riders will return to Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex, Mudgee at 10am. The last riders are expected to cross the Finish Line around 4.00pm.

What: Registration kit collection and event information. Bike mechanics will be available for basic repairs. A limited number of sponsor stalls will be open.

Sunday, 2 May 2021

Open: 10.00am to 4.00pm
What: The Event Village will be a lively centre of activity and entertainment as riders cross the finish line throughout the day. All welcome!

Note: The Event Village will be open in a limited capacity on Saturday (1-4pm) and Sunday (6am to 7am), mainly for rider kit collection. A limited number of cycling exhibitor stalls will be open on the Saturday.

Start line

Cheer on cyclists as they depart from Church St, Mudgee between 7:00am and 8:30am.

● 7:00-7:30am: 170km Maxi Classic
● 7:30-8:00am: 120km Challenge Classic
● 8:00-8:20am: 35km Social Classic

Road closures

* Sections of Church St and Mortimer St, Mudgee will be closed from 4:00am – 9:00am on Sunday, 2 May 2021. 

Church St: between Short St & Mortimer St
Mortimer St: between Perry St & Kmart Carpark entrance

* Pitts Lane, Mudgee will be closed from 6:30am – 4:00pm on Sunday, 2 May 2021.

* Lue Rd will be closed from 6:30am – 4:00pm on Sunday, 2 May 2021.

Between Ulan Rd and Bylong Valley Way, use Castlereagh Hwy as an alternative route.
Local traffic only permitted – photographic ID will be required to be shown for entry. Please call 0459 616 221 for travel arrangements on event day before proceeding onto Lue Rd.
Speed limits will be reduced along Lue Rd during event time, allow for extra travel time.
Cyclists will be travelling in both directions. Please be considerate of cyclists and only overtake when safe to do so.
Follow NSW Police, Altus Traffic Management and Escort direction at all times.

If you are driving on any of the roads which are being used for the event, please ensure that you take care and be watchful for cyclists.

Police will be patrolling the course throughout the day to ensure cyclists and motorists observe all road rules.

Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex
Ulan Rd & Pitts Lane, Mudgee NSW 2850

This is the recommended parking spot as there is
a cycle path direct to the Start Line on Church St.
Distance to the Start Line is 1.5km.
Parking at Glen Willow is open from 4am – 5pm
on Sunday, 2 May. Gates will be locked at dusk.
No parking along Pitts Lane within Glen Willow.

Both parking spots are 500m from the Start Line
and 1.5km from the Event Village at Glen Willow.
These sites are expected to fill fast so please be
aware you may need to park elsewhere.
