170km Maxi Classic: Course Overview
170km with 1686m of ascent.
The 170km Mudgee Gran Fondo course is a true Aussie Classic and those tasked with the tough job (ahem…) of scoping out the course remain in awe of the ‘Mudgee Maxi’.
Starting on one of regional Australia’s most iconic main streets, riders will roll out and pass through the first of the Mudgee vineyards, home of many of Australia’s best wines.
The course will then pass through the remarkable Munghorn Nature Reserve, before descending into Wollar and warming up for the picturesque Bylong Valley sector. Here you will experience the true NSW country road conditions that riders have come to embrace when riding in the area, be prepared to challenge yourself on the rough roads.
Pedal hard through the rolling Bylong Valley while fast-approaching these amazing gorges and enjoy the views … but don’t get too comfortable. A short distance ahead is the piece de resistance of the Maxi Classic – the challenging 5km climb … yes the Growee Gulph KOM and QOM!
From there it’s the challenge of more rolling hills prior to the final 5km and a nice fast finish into Mudgee.
