Giant have lifted the veil on the brand new 2017 TCR Disc range that seamlessly integrates disc brakes and thru axles into their race-winning TCR frame while remaining as stiff and responsive as the favored range has been for many years.

Last year Giant overhauled the TCR frame making it more lightweight by re-engineering every tube shape, junction and layup technique without sacrificing stiffness. This year Giant have a purpose-built range of road disc frames designed with flat-mount disc brake technology to offer the most consistent braking power in all conditions.

The proven advantages of disc brakes coupled with the established benefits of the TCR road bikes delivers a new level of control to preformance-minded road riders.

The new Giant TCR Disc range includes three series: TCR Advanced SL Disc, TCR Advanced Pro Disc and TCR Advanced Disc.

The model that has been released early in Australia is the TCR Advanced 1 Disc retailing for $2,999. Manufactured with their advanced high-performance composite material of raw carbon and custom resin each tube shape features a minimalistic profile while the oversized 86mm wide Powercore bottom bracket has been refined to maintain stiffness and efficiency. The hidden seatpost clamp and Variant Seatpost design balances compliance and race-tuned ride quality.

The Advanced-grade composite material fork with 12mm thru-axle design has been designed to incorporate flat-mount disc brake calipers to boost agility and responsiveness when cornering. When combined with the hybrid alloy/composite OverDrive tapered steerer tube and MegaDrive downtube the TCR Advanced 1 Disc offers a smooth ride quality unexpected of a race-bred bicycle.

Shimano are in control of the stopping power with their 160mm RS505 hydraulic disc brakes and will come with an Ultegra 6800 11-speed mechanical groupset. Topped off with Giant’s offshoot component company ‘Contact’ stem, bars, seatpost and PR-2 tubeless-ready rims.

The entire range will be announced shortly and the Australian availability and prices will follow.
