Calling in for coffee and cake while exploring the Bowral region by bike, browsing the bookshop, booking a cottage for the weekend or even planning the location of your dream wedding – Bendooley Estate offers it all.
Located on the Old Hume Highway at Berrima, less than a 10-minute drive or half hour ride from Bowral, this stunning estate literally features something for everyone. There’s the famous Berkelouw Bookstore, built in the early 1900’s and featuring oodles of books on the timber shelves beneath the stunning exposed timber beams and cathedral ceilings. One of the State’s most revered bookshops by day, for weddings and special events the bookshelves are rolled away to transform the huge room into a unique and breathtaking multi-purpose venue.
From Coffee & Cake To Fine Dining
Also inside the iconic Book Barn is the acclaimed Bendooley Estate restaurant. Open daily for aforementioned coffee and cake right through to stunning world-class meals, Head Chef Benn Troy strives to take advantage of local Southern Highlands and regional NSW produce including olive oils, cheeses and organic vegetables. Restaurant bookings are highly recommended, phone 02 4877 2235 for further information.
Don’t Miss The Cellar Door
Near the bookstore is the Bendooley Cellar Door, a must-visit part of the estate and popular destination in its own right. An extension of the vineyard, the cellar door is centred around a unique circular fireplace that draws on regional tones and medieval craftsmanship. It’s a space designed to inspire an international wine-tasting and epicurean journey and a part of Bendooley Estate that you’ll long remember.
Stay A Little Longer
Bendooley Estate also offers fully self-contained accommodation. Formerly the estate’s gatekeeper’s residence, the Book Barn Cottage is beautifully appointed and has been recently refurbished in a contemporary style. It’s a two-bedroom weatherboard bungalow full of warmth, ambience and country elegance. The cottage comfortably sleeps five people and would be the perfect base for at least a weekend of exploring the stunning Bowral region by bike.
