The Fixed Wheel: New Bike Shop For Bowral

Many will know of the Fixed Wheel bike shop in Manly near Sydney – now the doors have swung open at a sister store in the Southern Highlands – the Fixed Wheel Bowral.
Yes, Bowral has a new local bike shop, complete with state-of-the-art workshop and full service centre. Well-known local cyclist and Bowral Classic ambassador Harry Kooros is one of the the staff members at the store, the likeable young rider thrilled to have a new LBS in his home town.
To be open 6 days a week from Tuesday to Sunday, owner John McGill said the region was crying out for a high-quality local bike shop.

“After the McGee’s store shut down 2-years ago I bit the bullet and thought I’ve got to start one up,” said John, prior to the launch of the new store.
“I’ve got the Fixed Wheel in Manly, and have also lived in the Southern Highlands for 14 years so it’s a natural fit,” he added.
Professional Staff & The Top Brands
“The area needs a professional bike shop, professional staff, and people who really know what they are doing. We’ll have Focus, Cervelo, Kalkhoff, Gazelle, Pinarello and Trek. We have a range of road, electric bikes, mountain bikes – and have demo MTB’s & Pinarellos available to test. We will also be trading in second hand bikes on new bikes.”

The Fixed Wheel Bowral stocks a wide range of bikes covering all aspects of the sport.

Speaking fondly of the Southern Highlands, McGill said the region remains one of the best places to cycle in the state.
“It’s very safe with less traffic, quiet country roads and some incredible scenery,” he said. “I believe it’s a great all-round place to ride – there’s obviously the sensational road cycling and also plenty of world-class mountain biking.”
The new Fixed Wheel store is located at The Village on Kirkham Road, Bowral. Opening hours are 9am-5pm Tuesday to Sunday. Shop rides are held from 0630 Wednesdays & Saturdays.
