Ride, See, Do – Your Mudgee Classic Escape

The Mudgee Classic takes you through rolling countryside, historic towns, and vineyard-lined roads, offering an unforgettable cycling experience. Whether you’re tackling the Gran Fondo, the gravel or both, you’re in for one hell of a treat.

But the Mudgee Classic isn’t just an epic time on the bike—it’s the perfect excuse for a weekend (or longer) in one of NSW’s most stunning regions. Whether you’re riding solo, with mates, or bringing the entire family, there’s plenty to see, sip, and do this May.

Wine Country

You can’t visit Mudgee without experiencing the wine scene. Home to over 40 family-owned wineries and some of Australia’s best cool-climate drops, we couldn’t think of a better way to wind down after a day out on two wheels. Sip and savour at local favourites like Lowe, Bunnamagoo, and Robert Stein—each offering a unique taste of the region.

Pubs & Breweries

If a crisp craft beer or smoky BBQ is more your style, Mudgee’s pub and brewery scene has you covered. A must-visit is Three Tails Brewery & Smokehouse—coined as Ride Central during event weekend. It’s the perfect spot to kick back post-ride. Looking for more local watering holes? Mudgee’s historic pubs serve up hearty meals, live music, and plenty of small-town charm—just ask a local, and they’ll point you to their favourite.

Family Fun

There’s no shortage of family-friendly activities to keep the little ones entertained. From outdoor adventures to hands-on experiences, Mudgee is the perfect place for a fun-filled getaway with the whole crew.

Mudgee Honey Haven – Get up close with the bees, taste locally made honey, and even watch a live beehive in action.

Mudgee Miniature Railway – If you’ve got a little train enthusiast in the family, this mini railway is a must! Running on select Sundays, kids (and adults!) can take a ride on the mini steam and diesel trains.

The Drip Gorge Walk – A short drive from Mudgee, this easy 3km return walk follows a scenic trail alongside a crystal-clear creek, leading to the stunning Drip Gorge.

Mudgee Surrounds

Add a little history to your Mudgee escape with a visit to the nearby towns of Gulgong and Rylstone.

Gulgong – Known for its rich gold rush history, Gulgong is like stepping back in time. Wander through its heritage streetscapes or simply soak up the old-world charm over a coffee in a classic country café.

Rylstone – Brimming with colonial-era buildings and vibrant creativity, Rylstone offers a mix of history and modern hospitality. Stroll the historic main street, browse local artisan shops, and treat yourself to a dumpling feast at 29Nine99.

So, lock in your Mudgee Classic ride and start planning the ultimate weekend getaway.
