With just over eight weeks to go until the Mudgee Classic, now’s the time to get your bike and body dialed in for event day. A smooth, well-maintained ride can mean the difference between cruising comfortably and cursing every kilometre.
Book a Bike Service
Don’t leave your bike check-up to the last minute! Book it in for a service at your local bike shop at least two to three weeks before the event. This gives you time to test any adjustments and avoid nasty surprises.
Brakes & Gears – Are they shifting and stopping smoothly?
Tyres & Tubes – No cracks, cuts, or excessive wear? Consider fresh rubber if needed.
Chain & Drivetrain – Clean, lubed, and in good condition? A worn chain can ruin your cassette.
Bolts & Bearings – Everything torqued up and running smoothly?
Remember, mechanics will be on course for emergency repairs, but a pre event tune-up is key.
Dial in Your Comfort
You’ll be spending hours in the saddle, so make sure your setup is working for you, not against you.
Saddle Check: If your seat has been giving you grief in training, consider a bike fit or swapping to a more comfortable model.
Kit: Your bibs should be comfy, your chamois in good condition, and your jersey suited for the conditions.
