The next edition of the Mudgee Classic will be held on the weekend 2-3 May, 2026.

Saturday, 2 May 2026: Dirty Mudgee Gravel Rides: 90km Grit Classic & 55km Dash Classic 

Sunday, 3 May 2026: Gran Fondo Road Rides – 170km Maxi Classic, 120km Challenge Classic, 65km Rouleurs Classic & 35km Social Classic

The 2026 Mudgee Classic will be a Strava based event.

Riders are encouraged to download the Strava app to track their ride.

As the Mudgee Classic is a RIDE not a RACE, no official rider times/results will be published.

DIRTY MUDGEE GRAVEL START/FINISH LINE LOCATION:

  • What: The Event Village will operate on Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm and will be a lively hub of activity as riders cross the finish line throughout the day.

Parking spots are available at these areas:

This is the recommended parking spot as there is a cycle path direct to the  Gran Fondo Start Line on Church St.
Distance to the Start Line is 1km. No parking along Pitts Lane within Glen Willow.

  • ADDITIONAL PARKING:
    • Mudgee Council Carpark – 51 Short St, Mudgee
    • Byron Place – off Perry St, Mudgee

Both parking spots are 500m from the Gran Fondo Start Line and 1km from the Event Village at Glen Willow.
These sites are expected to fill fast so please be aware you may need to park elsewhere.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Teams Discount

Save an extra 10% off each entry if you are a team of 4 or more riders! 

Simply have the first team member registering set up the team and the discount will be automatically applied for all members (they too will receive the discount). Please note teams are for 4 or more riders only and are open to Clubs, Social and Corporate Teams.

Registration Kits:

All registration kits must be collected on the event weekend. There is no option for postage.

  • Dirty Mudgee registration is from 8am – 9.45am on Saturday, 2 May at Cooyal Hall.
  • Gran Fondo registration is Saturday, 2 May (11am – 4pm) at Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex or Sunday, 3 May from 6.00am at the Church St, Mudgee Start Line.

If you purchased an event jersey and paid for jersey delivery, this will be mailed out in April. Please note this will not include your registration kit. If you did not select the postage option, your purchased event jersey will be available to collect with your registration kit on the event weekend,

Merchandise Swaps

We can accommodate jersey swaps, stock permitting, if the jersey is unworn with tags attached. Please visit the Merchandise Tent on Saturday, 2 May from 11am – 4pm.

The Event Village is located at Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex (Ulan Rd & Pitts Lane, Mudgee NSW 2850).

The following will be included in your registration kit:

  • Rider Front Plate-  Please attach this to your bike’s front plate with the cable ties included in your registration kit. It is forbidden to alter, cut or fold your stickers.

  • Wristband for rider identification – must be worn on the event day

  • Rider Information Booklet including event maps.

  • Drink token for a free beer, wine or cider for redemption in the Event Village.
  • Lunch token (Dirty Mudgee riders only) for a free sausage sizzle back at the Glen Willow Event Village on Saturday, 2 May.
  • Event Jersey (if ordered)- Excluding Black Sheep x The Classics jerseys which will be delivered separately.

To update your registration (e.g. update your contact details) please log in to Race Roster and access your Mudgee Classic 2026 registration.

If you wish to transfer courses, or transfer your entry to another rider, you can do so via the Online Transfer Form.

No refunds are made when transferring from a category of a higher value to a category of a lesser value

If you wish to add a Dirty Mudgee or Gran Fondo ride to your existing registration, please email info@cyclingclassics.com.au.

Riders that purchase Enhanced Refund Protection at the time of registration will be eligible for a refund. This cannot be added retrospectively after registering. Enhanced Refund Protection is offered through a third-party, PROTECHT. All refund requests must be submitted via the PROTECHT portal. For more information, click here.

For riders who do not purchase Enhanced Refund Protection, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • Cancel by 30 September, 2025: 100% refund
  • Cancel by 8 March, 2026: You will be offered a deferral to Mudgee Classic 2027.
  • Cancel after 8 March, 2026: No refunds or deferrals without Enhanced Refund Protection. You may transfer your entry to a friend.

Deferral requests must be sent to info@cyclingclassics.com.au by 8 March. 

We respect and understand that from time to time some riders will be unable to participate due to illness, often at late notice. This is why we offer Enhanced Refund Protection at the time of registration.

Your support goes towards the high operating costs of each event where supplier’s fees & charges are typically paid prior to the event date. As such, we are not able to offer refunds as we want each event to be viable and enjoyable now and into the future.

Should the Event Organisers cancel the event due to adverse weather conditions or a pandemic, all riders will be given a 50% refund.

The event could be modified or cancelled if the Bureau of Meteorology predicts;

  • Continuous rain in excess of 20mm/h that could possibly lead to flash flooding.
  • Winds greater than 45km/hr.
  • Temperatures above 35 Degrees Celsius.
  • Lighting on course at any stage of the event.

If any of the above conditions are experienced in the lead up or during the event, a decision will be made by Event officials in conjunction with key stakeholders. All participants will be notified by email and text message.

If the event is cancelled, any merchandise purchased will not be refunded. Credit card fees and any associated travel costs are not refundable by the Event Organisers.

Tandem bikes are permitted in the Gran Fondo Road Rides only. The Dirty Mudgee Gravel event is not suitable for tandem bikes.

Both riders must be registered and pay the entry fee.

Dirty Mudgee Course Information

Dirty Mudgee Rest Stop & Support

A single rest stop location will be available, offering: 

  • Water refills 
  • Electrolytes 
  • Gels 
  • Bananas 

55km Dash Classic riders will pass the rest stop at the 24.6km mark.

90km Grit Classic riders will pass the rest stop twice – at the 24.6km and 66.4km marks.

No mobile mechanical support or bag drop service will be available on course– be prepared. 

  • Expect mixed terrain with loose gravel, hardpack, and some technical descents. 
  • The course is remote and point-to-point, with limited on-course assistance. 
  • Riders must be self-sufficient: carry all necessary tools, nutrition, and hydration. 
  • Mobile coverage is patchy at best – riders must download maps to their devices and know their course direction before starting. 
  • Be prepared to ride through causeways, and over cattle grids. 

55km Dash Classic Cut-Off Times:

  • Ideal for beginner to intermediate riders who can maintain a 15 km/h average speed. 
  • Advanced riders will also enjoy the shorter format and may choose to back it up with a Gran Fondo ride on Sunday morning.

90km Grit Classic Cut-Off Times:

  • To complete the full 90km loop, riders must maintain a minimum average speed of 20 km/h. The first time cut is at the 30km mark, where riders must pass before 11:20am. Those arriving later will be redirected to complete the 55km loop.

170km Maxi Classic Cut-Off Times:

• 33KM / 9:45AM @Cnr Ulan Rd & Mudhut Creek Rd, Linburn (Hard Enforcement)Turn left and follow Rouleurs course on Mudhut Creek Rd.

• 56.8KM / 10:20AM @Ulan Rest Stop– Leave by 10:20am to meet time cut at 79.8km mark (Cope Rd & Saleyards Ln).

• 79.8KM / 11:20AM @Cnr Cope Rd & Salesyard Ln, Gulgong (Hard Enforcement) Continue straight ahead, missing the Maxi loop and remaining on the Challenge course.

• 105.9KM / 12:30PM @Ulan Rest Stop Rest Stop closes 12:30pm. Arrive after this time and you will load into the SAG for a jump ahead on course.

• 130.9KM / 1:55PM @Gulgong Rest Stop- Rest Stop closes 1:55pm. Arrive after this time and you will load into the SAG for a jump ahead on course.

• 148.1KM / 3:00PM @Cnr Henry Lawson Dr & St Fillians Rd, St Fillians (Hard Enforcement) Continue straight ahead, missing the K/QOM and remaining on Henry Lawson Rd to Putta Bucca Rd.

120km Challenge Classic Cut-Off Times:

• 33KM / 9:45AM @Cnr Ulan Rd & Mudhut Creek Rd, Linburn (Hard Enforcement)Turn left and follow Rouleurs course on Mudhut Creek Rd.

• 81.8KM / 1:55PM @Gulgong Rest Stop- Rest Stop closes 1:55pm. Arrive after this time and you will load into the SAG for a jump ahead on course.

• 99KM / 3:00PM @Cnr Henry Lawson Dr & St Fillians Rd, St Fillians (Hard Enforcement) Continue straight ahead, missing the K/QOM and remaining on Henry Lawson Rd to Putta Bucca Rd.

65km Rouleurs Classic Cut-Off Times:

• 24.9KM / 10:00AM @Cooyal Hydration Station – Rest Stop closes at 10:00am. Arrive after this time and you will load into the SAG for a jump ahead on course.

At Start Line 
On Sunday morning, there will be a bag drop car at the Start Line.

Pack to many clothes or too warm? Use the Bag Drop to place any extra/unwanted clothes. They will be transported to the Event Village at Glen Willow Regional Sports Complex, Mudgee where you can pick up from the Bag Collection tent.

Cooyal Rest Stop (~25km)– 170km Maxi Classic, 120km Challenge Classic & 65km Rouleurs Classic riders
Riders can drop off any extra/unwanted clothes which will then be transported to the Event Village at Glen Willow.

RIDER GUIDELINES

Bike Restrictions & eBikes

eBikes are permitted in all courses. The eBike category must be selected at the time of registration.

Time Trial (TT) bars and Aero bars are not permitted in the Mudgee Classic.

Baby seats and child trailers/carts are not permitted.

If your chosen bike is anything other than a road bike, please email info@cyclingclassics.com.au to request approval for its use in the Mudgee Classic.

The Mudgee Classic is held on open roads. All road rules apply.
If a cyclist is found to be in breach of road rules organisers will disqualify and remove cyclist from event.

•  No more than two riders side-by-side unless overtaking.

• Please ensure you have reviewed the following NSW Road Rules.

• Obey all road rules and directions from Police and Traffic Controllers.

• On narrow country roads bicycle riders must avoid being a hazard to traffic.

• Ride on the left hand side of the road.

• Respect signs which have been put in place by the event organiser.

• Wear an Australian approved helmet at all times: no helmet = no ride.

• Any person participating in the event, must obey directions given by a member of the NSW Police Force or Ride Referee

• At the Ride Referees discretion, riders may be withdrawn from the event if they are outside the designated cut-off times and their safety cannot be reasonably ensured.

• While every effort has been made to mark out and officiate the course route, it remains the riders responsibility to be conversant with the ride route. Cyclists are reminded that road cycling can be considered a dangerous sport and whilst all reasonable care is taken by organisers and officials when organising an event, all participants have an equal responsibility to ensure they take all reasonable care by adhering to the road rules and other conditions imposed by ride officials, ensuring a safe ride environment for all concerned.

Come prepared, check your bike in for a service, put on new tires, check your brakes, cables, chain, lube etc. Please do not arrive to the start with a bike that needs a full service.

Saturday, 2 May- there will be mechanics at Registration at Glen Willow from 11:00am – 4:00pm and at the Dirty Mudgee rest stop.

Sunday, 3 May – there will be mechanics at the Start area on Church St. There will also be a mechanics roaming on course.

Riders are to be self-reliant. Riders should carry:

•  2x water biddons
•  Some nutrition, e.g. banana, muesli bar
•  2 x tubes
•  C02 head unit and canisters
•  Puncture kit
•  Front and rear lights
•  Mobile phone
•  Glasses
•  Appropriate weather cycling kit
•  Some money

Wear an Australian approved helmet at all times: no helmet = no ride

This weekend ride is not like your usual hit out. Two factors cannot be underestimated:
• Even at 30km/h riders will be out for 5-plus hours on the bike.
• Riders should consume one gram of carbohydrate per kilogram of body weight per hour.

Eating and drinking by the time you feel hungry/thirsty will be too late.

Every rider should carry some nutrition e.g. gels, bananas, muesli bars. Also riders are encouraged to carry 2 x 750 ml water biddons.

Riders will have access to at least 1 rest stop on course.

Plan to drink all your fluids by the time you get to the next station.

Remember to slip, slop slap!
At rest stops there will be a water station, food, and First Aid kits. 

Insurance is compulsory. During the registration process, you will be asked to note your current insurance cover and insurance number (ie. AusCycling). Your current insurance will need to cover you for the Mudgee Classic day event. Refer to your insurer’s conditions if you are unsure if you are covered. If you do not have appropriate insurance, you will be asked to take out day insurance, Personal Accident Cover.

Dirty Mudgee Age Restrictions:

The minimum age for the Dirty Mudgee gravel courses is 16 years old. 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.

Gran Fondo Age Restrictions:

The minimum age for all Gran Fondo courses is 12 years old.

Riders aged between 12-16 must hold an AusCycling Race Licence (excluding 35km Social Classic riders) and be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event.

There will be an ambulance on course along with a designated first aid response team with two vehicles on course.

Emergency medical staff will be clearly identified with high-vis vests and name tags.
